Several of you participated in my poll earlier, answering that you would be interested in participating in an auction for y!Gallery to keep the community ad free! I call on those of you now, and any additional, charitable souls, to participate in the y!Gallery Charity Auction.

I'll be offering a full CG to whomever wins this auction. 100% of the proceeds will go to y!Gallery to help cover their monthly bills. I've seen too many art communities ruined by stupid banner ads or even obnoxious flash ads. y! is the only community in which I participate that has remained ad free. And I'd like to keep it that way.

(Due to a trend of kiriban hunters--not that I don't appreciate it, because I :heart: you all, but I'm going to have to make a new rule of 'no repeat customers'.) Probably not all of them. Laminated posters cost quite a bit to produce and I doubt people would be willing to buy all of them in poster size. So, I think I'll only make a couple as promotions.

I have never once claimed the character is my own. I am not selling the copyright to it either. This is a fan-produced product for fans of the series. It is an homage-- an honor to the inspiration his character provides created so others who enjoy his work can continue to enjoy it in other ways.

This is in no way different from any of the other fanworks produced in any series or any genre. People who painted velvet Elvises never asked for his permission to paint his likeness. Likewise, photographers, professional or amateur, aren't required to have permission to photograph a person, monument, or landscape.

So, while I understand your concern, I don't know why you feel the need to come to my journal and personally attack me for doing something that is commonly accepted in the art world and has been for centuries.

The way you emphasized 'his' made it sound like an attack. Sorry if it wasn't meant that way, but it didn't seem like a harmless question.

Well it was an harmless question because I never attack people unless it is written in my journal that I wanna attack people.

It still came across strongly as an accusation by the emphasis on 'his'. That's the reason I took it as an attack.

If I'm mistaken, I've already apologized for it.

In the future, I would be mindful of how you write things. Tone doesn't carry well (if at all) over the internet and only emphasis by way of bolding, italics, or underlines can help. Emoticons as well, but those are often misleading too.

I agree that the internet shouldn't be used as a battlefield of words, but over half the prigs that use it don't seem to share my views.
